ASSOCIATION OF HAWAIIAN CIVIC CLUBS

A RESOLUTION 

NO. 2020 – 2

CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF GEORGIANA NAPUAOKALANI KEKUA YAMAMOTO

WHEREAS, Georgiana was born on December 27, 1942 to pure Hawaiian parents, Mr. George Nui Kekua, Sr. and Martha (Kekona) Kekua of Hauʻula, and was the second child of four; and

WHEREAS, Georgiana, known to everyone as Jana, was the loving wife of 39 years to Tex Muneo Yamamoto, who had three children from his previous marriage, and they together adopted a child, Titaina Aumua-Yamamoto; and

WHEREAS, Georgiana was a proud graduate of Kahuku High School, class of 1960, and was an avid Red Raider who continued to organize class reunions and gatherings until her passing; and

WHEREAS, Georgiana then attended the Honolulu Business College and graduated with an accounting degree; and  

WHEREAS, Georgiana was a lifelong member of the Hau‘ula-Kahuku Church in Hau‘ula, where her father, George was a deacon and her Uncle William Isaac Kanakauni was the Kahu and founder of the Koʻolauloa Hawaiian Civic Club; and

WHEREAS, Georgiana worked as an accountant for most of her career and ran a Restaurant Supply business with her husband Tex for many years; and

WHEREAS, during her years of employment she received several recognitions for the Employee of the Year, and later retired to take care of her parents and continued as a stay-at-home mom to her adopted daughter, Titaina; and                                                                 

WHEREAS, Georgiana has been a member of the Koʻolauloa Hawaiian Civic Club for most of her life, and while she never held an office, she has supported the club whenever possible; and

WHEREAS, Georgiana was a very compassionate person with a big Hawaiian heart, was loved by her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Georgiana will be remembered by her classmates as the smart, dependable, hardworking, kind, persistent, fun-loving friend.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs at its 61st Annual Convention held online, in the malama of Makali‘i and the rising of ʻOlekūkolu, this 22nd day of November 2020, celebrating the life of Georgiana Napuaokalani Kekua Yamamoto; and 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Georgiana Napuaokalani Kekua Yamamoto, be remembered and honored in her many roles and responsibilities as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and Auntie to many; and 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be transmitted to her daughters Doreen Barney, Titaina Aumua-Yamamoto, Bernamae I. L. Aumua, her sons Kekona Yamamoto, Bradford Yamamoto, the Ko’olauloa Hawaiian Civic Club, as well as the Governor of the State of Hawai‘i, President of the State Senate, Speaker of the State House of Representatives, Chair of the State Senate subject matter committee on Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the State House subject matter committee on Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and all County Mayors.

The undersigned herby certifies that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted in the malama of Makaliʻi and the rising of ʻOlekūkolu on the 22nd day of November 2020, at the 61st Annual Convention of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs held online.
