ASSOCIATION OF HAWAIIAN CIVIC CLUBS

A RESOLUTION

No. 2019 – 3

REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF TODD ALLEN AUSTIN

WHEREAS, Todd Allen Austin came into this world on February 12, 1961, in El Cajon, California, and passed away peacefully on January 5, 2019, in the presence of his wife, mother, children and entire ‘ohana; and

WHEREAS, Todd leaves behind his wife, Debi Bricker Austin; children, Noelani and Kyle; mo‘opuna, Koa, Leia and Kora; brothers, Ben and Ian; sisters, Jamilyn and Timaree; and many aunties and uncles, nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, his parents are Philip (d) (California) and Anthia Oi Lan Ho Austin (Honolulu, Oahu); and

WHEREAS, Todd’s tūtū kāne and tūtū wahine were Charles Hoy Ho (Honolulu, O‘ahu) and Helen Ilima Isaacs (Iseke) Ho (North Kohala, Hawai‘i); and

WHEREAS, Todd’s kūpuna kuakahi were Ho Say (k) and Shee Hong (w) (Canton, China), and John Uliana Isaacs (Iseke) (k), and Alice Kihei Bell Lincoln (w) (North Kohala); and

WHEREAS, Todd’s kūpuna kualua were John Joachim Von Iseke (k), (Breman, Germany) and Ana Lumaukahili‘owahinekapu Ka‘auhaukane (w) (Na‘alehu, Hawai‘i), George W. Kawaihoolana Lincoln (k), (North Kohala) and Mary Ann Meleana Bell (w) (Kehena, Hawai‘i); and

WHEREAS, Todd’s kūpuna kualua were Heinrich Von Iseke (k) and Josepha Streicter Von Iseke (w) (Breman, Germany), Kamokulehua‘opanaewa Ka‘auhaukane (k) and Palaika Ho‘ohua (w), (Kohala); and

WHEREAS, Todd was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers in California, and was a master of many trades, a surfer, and a fisherman; and

WHEREAS, Todd was a member of ‘Ahahui Kīwila Hawai‘i o San Diego and South Kohala Hawaiian Civic Club, and always answering the call to kōkua where needed at lū‘au, and fundraisers, and he attended convention in Alaska; and

WHEREAS, Todd lived in Carlsbad, a Southern California beach town, and he and the ocean were one, and he loved to fish, surf, walk the beach or sit in his truck and watch the surf and sunset; and

WHEREAS, he found peace and comfort in the ocean and at all his favorite beach spots up and down the California Coast, Mexico, and Hawai‘i; and

WHEREAS, the Austin ‘Ohana, ‘Ahahui Kīwila Hawai‘i o San Diego, and the South Kohala Hawaiian Civic Club take comfort in knowing he is at peace with Ke Akua.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs at its 60th Annual Convention in Lahaina, Maui, in the malama of Welehu and the rising of Lāʻau Pau, this 16th day of November 2019, remembering the life of Todd Allen Austin; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Mainland Council of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs, ‘Ahahui Kīwila Hawai‘i o San Diego, South Kohala Hawaiian Civic Club, his wife Debi Bricker Austin, and the Austin ‘Ohana, as well as the Governor of the State of Hawai‘i, President of the State Senate, Speaker of the State House of Representatives, Chair of the State Senate subject matter committee on Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the State House subject matter committee on Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and all County Mayors.

The undersigned hereby certifies that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted in the malama of Welehu and the rising of Lāʻau Pau on the 16th day of November 2019, at the 60th Annual Convention of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs in Lahaina, Maui.
