ASSOCIATION OF HAWAIIAN CIVIC CLUBS

A RESOLUTION

No. 2019 -13

FONDLY REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF CYNTHIA S. H. NAZARA

WHEREAS, Cynthia Soon Hee Nazara was born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i on May 27, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Cynthia Nazara was married to Caleb Kekoa Nazara and had six children; and

WHEREAS, Cynthia Nazara had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she deeply loved; and

WHEREAS, she was very active in and believed in her community; and

WHEREAS, Cynthia Nazara owned and operated her own restaurant called Cynthia’s Hawaiian Kitchen; and

WHEREAS, Cynthia Nazara was a Hawaiian cultural liaison, a business owner, a Commissioner for Kaloko-Honokōhau, a council member for West Hawai‘i Fisheries and the Hawai‘i Island Burial Council, a board member of the Kona Historical Society, a member of Ka Ulu Lauhala of Kona, a board advisor for Ka‘upulehu Marine Life Advisory Committee, a chairperson and member of Public Access Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Commission, a coordinator for Ka‘upulehu Makai Watch, the president of Kona Hawaiian Civic Club, and a valued board member of the Hawai‘i Council of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs at its 60th Annual Convention in Lahaina, Maui, in the malama of Welehu and the rising of La`au Pau, this 16th day of November 2019, fondly remembering the Life of Cynthia S. H. Nazara; and

BE IT FURTHER RESVOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be transmitted to Caleb Kekoa Nazara, the Kona Hawaiian Civic Club, Duane Keanaaina, Ka Ulu Lauhala O Kona, the chair of the Public Access Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Commission, as well as the Governor of the State of Hawai‘i, President of the State Senate, Speaker of the State House of Representatives, Chair of the State Senate subject matter committee on Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the State House subject matter committee on Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and all County Mayors.

The undersigned hereby certifies that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted in the malama of Welehu and the rising of Lāʻau Pau on the 16th day of November 2019, at the 60th Annual Convention of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs in Lahaina, Maui.
