ASSOCIATION OF HAWAIIAN CIVIC CLUBS

A RESOLUTION

No. 2018 – 21

CONGRATULATING BRENDON KALEI‘ĀINA LEE ON HIS ELECTION TO THE OFFICE OF HAWAIIAN AFFAIRS BOARD OF TRUSTEES

WHEREAS, Brendon Kalei‘āina Lee is a lifelong member of the Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club, and an active and invaluable participant and contributor to the Hawaiian Civic Club movement; and

WHEREAS, Brendon Kalei‘āina Lee is the son of Benson Lee, Sr., and Antoinette Lee, both past presidents of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs; and

WHEREAS, Brendon Kalei‘āina Lee has held a number of leadership roles in the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs, including his current role as the Hope Pelekikena Elua (Second Vice President); and

WHEREAS, Brendon Kalei‘āina Lee has an extensive track record of service to the lāhui beyond the Hawaiian Civic Club movement including his tenure as President of the Kamehameha Schools Alumni Association, and as a member of the Kamehameha Schools Po‘okula Advisory Committee, the King Kamehameha Celebration Commission, and the OHIA Institute, as well as a participant in and the elected chairman of the 2016 Native Hawaiian Constitutional Convention or ‘Aha; and

WHEREAS, in April 2018, Brendon Kalei‘āina Lee filed as a candidate for Office of Hawaiian Affairs At-Large Trustee, and earned sufficient votes in the Primary Election on August 11, 2018, to advance to the General Election; and

WHEREAS, in the General Election on November 6, 2018, Brendon Kalei‘āina Lee was elected to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees as an At-Large Trustee.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs at its 59th Annual Convention in Kalapaki, Kauaʻi, in the malama of Welehu and the rising of ʻOlepau, this 17th day of November 2018, congratulating Brendon Kalei‘āina Lee on his election to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be transmitted to Trustee Brendon Kalei‘āina Lee, the Governor of the State of Hawai‘i, President of the State Senate, Speaker of the State House of Representatives, Chair of the State Senate Committee on Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the State House Committee on Ocean, Marine Resources & Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and all County Mayors.

The undersigned hereby certifies that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted in the malama of Welehu and the rising of ‘Olepau on the 17th day of November 2018, at the 59th Annual Convention of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs in Kalapaki, Kaua‘i.
