ASSOCIATION OF HAWAIIAN CIVIC CLUBS

A RESOLUTION

NO. 2020 – 29

CONGRATULATING THE FRIENDS OF KA LEO MEDIA HAWAIʻI ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF RADIO STATION AM 940 KKNE

WHEREAS, in 2017, the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs adopted Resolution 2017-51 entitled, “Support the Establishment of a Native Hawaiian Radio Program and Global Radio Network”; and

WHEREAS, this radio station was founded for the purpose of responding to the growth of the Hawaiian language, respecting the language of the indigenous people of Hawai‘i and incorporating its use in our daily lives; and

WHEREAS, in early 2019, radio station AM 940 KKNE was established; and

WHEREAS, AM 940 KKNE is broadcasted (streamed) over the internet for the whole world.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs at its 61st Annual Convention held online, in the malama of Makali‘i and the rising of ʻOlekūkolu, this 22nd day of November 2020, congratulating the Friends of Ka Leo Media Hawai‘i on the establishment of radio station AM 940 KKNE; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs also thank Mr. John Aeto, a member of the Kalihi-Pālama Hawaiian Civic Club, for his steadfast leadership in enabling the establishment of Radio Station AM 940; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Hawaiin Civic Club members are encouraged to tune in to AM 940; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be transmitted to the ‘Aha Pūnana Leo, as well as the Governor of the State of Hawai‘i, President of the State Senate, Speaker of the State House of Representatives, Chair of the State Senate subject matter committee on Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the State House subject matter committee on Hawaiian Affairs, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and all County Mayors.

The undersigned herby certifies that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted in the malama of Makaliʻi and the rising of ʻOlekūkolu on the 22nd day of November 2020, at the 61st Annual Convention of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs held online.
